Home Expectations
Home practice is essential to student progress and success. The most successful students set aside time at least 5 times each week for personal practice. Practice helps us to develop muscle memory, a keen ear, technical skills, musical sensitivity and the list goes on. The more progress a student makes, the more fun they have playing.
Piano students should have a professionally tuned piano at home, although beginners may be able to use a keyboard (preferably with weighted keys and correct key width) for the first year of instruction.
Tuition
Students will be scheduled for 34 lessons from September 5 through May 30. Tuition is spread evenly over 9 months as follows:

60 min $212/month
Tuition is due by the first lesson of the month. I accept cash, check, Venmo (@Melissa-Kohn-5) or Apple Pay.
A minimum of six summer lessons will be expected and will be pro-rated accordingly.
*Additional fees for books will be billed as needed.
*Exam fees and contest fees will be billed for those who wish to participate.
Recitals
Students will have opportunities to perform throughout the year through MMTA, but will also have the opportunity to participate in an end-of year recital.
MMTA Opportunities
Since I am an active member of Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA), my students are eligible to participate in MMTA sponsored Piano Exams, Theory Exams, Contests and more.
