Lessons for all ages and stages

Welcome!
My love of music started very early in life. I began formal piano lessons at age 5, then joined the band on flute in 4th grade, added alto sax in Middle School Jazz Band, was a leader in Concert Band and High School Marching band, as well as in Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers. I went to college at Bethel University, St. Paul where I double majored in Instrumental Music Education (Band K-12) and Flute Performance. During my college years, I began teaching private piano and flute lessons and haven't stopped! After college I taught at the Children's Yamaha Music School (piano), Eden Valley-Watkins Public Schools (band) and most recently Monticello Public Schools (band). I remain active as an accompanist, pianist for musicals, church musician, and as a core member of the flute section in the Encore Wind Ensemble.
I thoroughly enjoy people of all ages and I love helping them accomplish their goals, whether it be to play for fun or perform competitively. As an active member of MMTA, I have access to comprehensive resources and curriculum to help my students grow. Students may take advantage of MMTA sponsored piano exams, theory exams, and contests that are appropriately leveled for their age and ability.
When I'm not teaching or performing, I enjoy reading, hiking, and traveling with my husband of 35+ years. We have two grown children who live with their spouses and children in the area. Family time is important to all of us.
Music is a lifelong activity that can enrich your life and open doors to amazing opportunities and life skills. I would love to connect with you to explore the possibility of lessons for you and/or your student.
